Winter weather can be tough on homes. Cold temps, heavy rain, or snow (in some regions) require extra attention.
What to Focus On:
Insulate Pipes: Foam covers protect exterior and exposed pipes from freezing. Burst pipes can cost thousands in repairs.
Reverse Ceiling Fans: Set fan blades to spin clockwise on low to push warm air down.
Check Attic Insulation: Good insulation helps with heat retention and keeps ice dams from forming on the roof.
Sump Pump Test: Pour water into the pit to ensure it activates. This is critical in areas with heavy winter rain.
Roof Check: After snow or wind, check for damage or ice buildup, especially around vents and chimneys.
Extra Tip:
Keep an eye on icicles—they might look pretty, but they can signal poor attic ventilation or insulation.
